Our Story
Hardy’s Aquatics & Pets opened February 6, 2015. It’s opening ended a long lived dream and journey of opening a Chicago Southside neighborhood fish store born from a love of the hobby. Hardy’s Aquatics & Pets is a family owned and operated business. Our mission is to provide genuine care for our customers and provide an inviting environment for all pet enthusiasts to obtain quality products with exceptional service. We strive to constantly innovate, excel, listen, and hold ourselves to the highest principles.
Meet the Owner
Eric has been a fish enthusiast his entire life and has always wanted to open his own business. He wanted to bring a quality brick and mortar store to the South Side of Chicago, where he and his wife, Tasha, grew up. As a fish enthusiast, he felt that there was a need for an aquarium business that satisfied the needs of other hobbyists and gave them a place to find quality products, advice and a welcoming environment. After over 20 years as a manager, Eric left his job and after some time, he and his wife decided to invest in his life-long passion and began the exciting journey of starting their own business dedicated predominantly to the sale of freshwater fish, saltwater fish, and corals, as well as aquarium chemicals and dry and frozen fish foods. Eric also performs tank setups as well as provide ongoing cleaning/maintenance of clients’ tanks. We opened our doors in February 2015 and we continue to grow!
